Who does St Joseph’s Primary School, Schofields sing for?
They “sing for the Wanderers’’ and this week the Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club paid them a special visit to thank them for their support and also announced them as the ‘Wanderers School of the Year’.
Former Year 6 students Tyronne Brown, Aidan Gosling and Brayden Cauchi entered the Western Sydney Wanderers School of the Year competition last year in a bid to demonstrate they are the Wanderers’ biggest fans.
“We are so happy and excited the school has won Wanderers School of the Year,’’ Aiden said.
As a result of winning the competition, the school was rewarded with a Western Sydney Wanderers Expo, which included a range of activities including a coaching clinic hosted by players, jumping castle, face-painting, poster-signing and photo opportunities.
The visit also featured two members from its powerchair team. Andy Waite and Ben Keyte come out especially to meet Kindergarten student Cruz Leite, who is a huge fan.
St Joseph’s Principal Lesley Studans said the event was really wonderful for the school.
“It has done wonders for our school spirit and highlights to the students that when you try your best you can get rewarded,’’ Mrs Studans said.
“It also reinforces our school values of ‘Together We Can’, which is all about our sense of community and working together as a team to achieve a goal.’’
