The Character Strength - HOPE- Hope serves as a foundation for other important character strengths like perseverance, creativity, and bravery. By fostering hope in their children, parents help develop a broader range of positive qualities that will serve their children well throughout their educational journey and beyond. It is now more important than ever to foster positive relationships in children and young people. Every parent wants to raise kids to be fine young people. But to do this we need to instil in kids more than just skills, attitudes and positive behaviours. We need to provide a compass to help them navigate the myriad of decisions they make every day as children and as teenagers. Integrity sits at the top of that compass. https://stjosephsschofields.catholic.schooltv.me/sites/default/files/editions-resources/respectful-relationships/Respectful_Relationships_FS8.pdf For more information click on the link to access St Joseph’s School TV

The Character Strength GRATITUDE- grateful people tend to be more pleasant to be around. Their ability to find joy in small moments and appreciate life's blessings creates an uplifting atmosphere that naturally attracts others. This positive energy makes forming and maintaining friendships easier, as people are drawn to those who can recognise and celebrate the good in life. In this episode you'll learn all about a super power that boosts your mental health! But there's a catch. It only works when you use authentically, otherwise that super power turns into a super flop. Listen in as the 12 year hosts of the show walk you through gratitude, negativity bias and optimism. The Character Strength Bravery plays a vital role in forming meaningful friendships, though we might not immediately recognise its importance. When we show courage in social situations, like taking the initiative to start a conversation or invite someone to spend time together, we open doors to new connections. True friendship often requires emotional bravery - the willingness to be vulnerable and show our authentic selves rather than hiding behind a facade. This short video asks children what they believe to be the ingredients for a healthy friendship using the analogy of making a friendship soup. The process is represented using a fun graphic style that children will appreciate. Bullying comes in many forms. It has far-reaching damaging impacts on a child's self-esteem, self-worth, resilience and academic success which can carry right through to their adult life. Bullying is a repeated and targeted behaviour and it also relates to how it makes a young person feel as a result of such behaviour. As parent, it is important to understand what is happening before concluding that it is bullying. This video aimed at children and families to explain what is bullying and what to do about it. Presented in a simple and easy-to-understand format using animation What is Bullying? - SEL Sketches. For more information check out St Joseph's School TV.
